“If at first you don’t succeed . . . try and then try again. The only path to failure is to never try. And the man that will succeed is the one that will continue to get up until he crosses that finish line.”

The challenge ball was dropped yesterday so I am jumping back on the wagon today. The goal to stay away from the fruit options continues, but I am allowing certain fruits that are lower in sugar and higher in bad guy fighting properties.

Green Smoothie Detox Day Seven

Breakfast: ½ cup water, 1 tsp ground cinnamon, ½ cup blueberries, ¼ cup grapefruit juice (no sugar added), 1 lg piece of broccoli, 3 leaves of leaf lettuce. This was a very thin smoothie and the cinnamon shown through everything – although the grapefruit helped to cut it a little. Broccoli makes the smoothie a bit gritty, so be warned. Probably NOT a recipe I will repeat, but I already feel better if that is possible.

Lunch: ½ cup tomato juice, 1 tsp cayenne pepper, four small stalks celery (with leaves), four small leaves of leaf lettuce. It was VERY good – but a little spicy.

My husband and I normally have a “date day” on Wednesday after our Downtown Chapel church service. His face was so disappointed when I reminded him about the challenge that I agreed to go eat with him. I stuck with a cup of soup and a glass of water, so it was not that much of a cheat.

Dinner: ½ cup tomato juice, 1 tsp cayenne pepper, four small stalks celery with leaves, four small leaves of leaf lettuce, ½ handful parsley, ¼ cucumber. It was another spicy smoothie, but very satisfying.

The green smoothies are proving to be tasty and sometimes surprising. I confess that the challenge is not that easy because sometimes I like to munch on something, but all and all, I can feel the difference in how my body acts and feels even with just one day of smoothie intake.
