I headed over to the Emerald Lounge for tips about dealing with the balance in my body. One of the top tips was to drop the fat – hmmm. I never thought of bananas as fat, but I guess when you compare them to lettuce they are very fat heavy.
Today the smoothies will be banana free for me – although the boys have asked that I start making THEM smoothies as well, “just not those with all the peppery flavors.” I will flip through the recipes and find ones that skip the banana. I also plan to continue with the good fresh foods that are known to help the balance in my system (which just so happens to include green vegetables – go figure).
Green Smoothie Detox Day Six
Today is challenge day – and the goal is to drink nothing but smoothies the whole day. I am definitely game, or I was until I began seeking out non-banana recipes to try. I have printed out several and you should see the face of apprehension. The last couple of weeks have been a surprise, so I am sure that this will prove to be the same.
Breakfast: 2 stalks celery, ¼ cup tomato juice, 3 leaves leaf lettuce, ¼ tsp cayenne pepper – it is DEFINITELY a savory drink, but I had to add a little extra water just to help smooth it out to drink quality. It made about 16 oz.
For the kids: 2 bananas, ¼ cup blue berries, 1 cup cranberry juice, 4 large leaves of leaf lettuce, 3 large pieces of broccoli – I know that I should add more green next time, but this is a good start for boys that only eat green candy or popsicles.
Lunch: Oops – forgot it was challenge day and made a turkey, onion and lettuce wrap.
Dinner: already off the challenge, I opted for a small baked potato with butter and a green onion – I also added a savory smoothie with 2 celery stalks, 1 tsp cayenne pepper, ¼ cup tomato juice, three leaves of leaf lettuce, water to get to a smooth quality I liked. I ate the smoothie as a soup with the potato.
