Weekends cause me grief when it comes to my eating. The lack of structure tends to lend itself to all day snacking. The lack of structure remained for this Saturday, but my desire to snack was not as strong.
I will confess something to you – if you promise to NEVER reveal it to my husband (he is not a blog man). Friday night I stumbled into a game on my new laptop while I was waiting for the virus scan to run in the background. The next time I looked around, the sun was coming up. I had stayed up all night playing.
The most amazing thing about that situation is that I was not tired. I went on about my day, but I did go to bed early. Most of my Green Smoothie guide was skipped, but I did finally get to enjoy something that I have been anticipating since I first read it on the menu.
Day Four Menu:
Take-No-Prisoners Submarine Rolls: Avocado Mayonnaise (they give you a recipe and I actually followed it with the exception of the kelp powder), baby spinach, tomatoes, romaine lettuce. It was easy – all I did was take one of those large romaine lettuces and covered it with avocado mayonnaise, then I put on two slices of tomato, several leaves of baby spinach and rolled them up and ate them like a wrap. I think that I would like them even more with the recommended olives (we were out) and some sprouts.
Between that late in the day meal and the popcorn I ate for family movie night, I was done for the day.
One of the best lessons that I am grabbing hold of again in my life is listening to my body. The other night I had pasta, and it was so heavy. I can promise you that with my obsession with bread (we have always had something at every meal) that I wanted to place that “roll” on an actual roll. I reached in to the refrigerator, but my body did not seem as excited as my head. I left the bread and used the romaine that was written.
The same thing happened when we ate popcorn. I LOVE buttered popcorn – and have been known to eat an entire bowl on my own. It was too heavy to eat very much. I had a couple of hands of the popcorn and left the rest for the kids and dad.
I have needed something that would help me get back on the tracks. I had found a concept that worked several years ago but had gotten away from it. The Green Smoothie Queens are giving me the ability to find that place and dwell there with confidence.
