The Green Smoothie Queens are GREAT with support. Each morning I wake up to an inspiring email that helps me stay focused and motivated for the day. The email today had two major points for me.
-
1. This program does not restrict – the goal is to get me thinking about better choices and I am proud to say that it has already succeeded to that point.
2. The PS shared a link to a song and I have to pass it along. I have already listened to it several times (although I am a sucker for the acoustical guitar) and it just makes me bounce.
Now on to Day Five!
I made up my green smoothie before I looked at the menu for today, so I missed the mark on this one. It was supposed to be the Snow Bunny smoothie with carrots and ginger. It sounds great so I may move this to my lunch menu.
Day Five menu:
Breakfast: Berry Purple Green Smoothie (I just made that up). I added raspberries, blueberries and some cranberry juice to my two handfuls of spinach and two bananas. A full glass is about 12 oz.
Lunch: I tried the Snow Bunny smoothie, but I ate it like a soup. It was a mix of carrots, coconut water, baby spinach, other baby greens (so that the greens made up about two very full handfuls), and some ginger (the actual recipe called for fresh ginger, but I used about a ½ tsp of ground) and one banana. I made this batch so that there was only enough for one serving because I wanted to know how I was going to like it before I made very much. It was very good! I paired it with a baked potato and had a very satisfying lunch.
Dinner: I finished up my Berry Purple smoothie and again paired it with a baked potato.
I discovered something during lunch. Fruits and vegetables of all varieties have unique flavors. I had gotten so caught up in the way I have always cooked certain things that I never stopped to prepare them any other way. The carrots and the ginger were perfect together and I will definitely be looking for new ways to combine those two flavors.
