Green Smoothie Detox Day Eight

Following the green smoothie path requires that I spend regular time in the grocery store. Less than one week after my last trip, the crisper was running low. I was limited on my choices in what to eat and how to eat it.

Breakfast: 1 tomato, ¼ cucumber, 3 leaves romaine, 1 green onion, 1 tsp cayenne pepper, 1/8 cup grapefruit juice. This was VERY spicy and I ended up eating a small pancake from the stacks that I made for the boys just to cool off my mouth.

Lunch: I have not made it to the grocery store and supplies are running thin. I used up the rest of a butter lettuce blend, topped it with white (sweet) onion, orange bell pepper, fresh dill, topped it will a little turkey (not even close to on the green smoothie recipe but I wanted a little extra something in the salad).

Dinner: A couple of more turkey, this time wrapped in a romaine lettuce leaf with some slices of onion.

My desire to continue the journey was running low. The limits to my choices were making me miserable. I went to the grocery store after my evening meal and was SHOCKED when my stomach started growling at the choices of lettuce, tomatoes, cucumbers and on. It just goes to show that the body CRAVES variety more than anything else. Choosing to mix up the smoothies, salads and other green detox menu items will provide me with the motivation to push through.
