The Green Smoothie Detox made me feel better and helped me make better food choices. Although I did let my kids try a few or my smoothies and I also gave my husband a bite of some of the soups, I never made the green a major part of our meals – until last night.

Now that I a full month of green smoothies under my belt – so to speak – I am ready to launch into creative cooking. Last night I took my version of raw spaghetti sauce and poured that over cooked ground beef and Wacky Mac pasta. Despite the fact that they were eating raw spinach, tomatoes and zucchini with the dish the kids each ate two servings.

Today I determined to make green a part of every meal.

Breakfast: Taste of Tropical – 1 piece of raw coconut, two large slices of fresh pineapple, a large handful of spinach, 1 cup of cranberry juice (without any added sugar) and 1 banana. The coconut meet gives the smoothie and odd texture but the flavors were right on.

Lunch: My dad passed on a family sized portion of gumbo that I am heating up to serve to guests. I also made up a batch of raw chili, brown rice and some rolls. Not completely green and raw, but a little here and there make a big difference.

Dinner fell to left-overs – which often happens after a day of company. The raw chili and brown complimented each other very nicely.
My kids seem to take to the green a little better when I present it as an adventure. What tips do you have for creating habits of choosing better in your kids?
